List Exchange

St. Olaf Catholic Church has developed this policy to balance two essential needs for the continued development and long-term success of the church:
1. The need for our members to trust their personal information is safeguarded and secure; and
2. The need to increase membership and program attendance.

Because individuals who support organizations similar to ours are among the most likely to support St. Olaf, we will, on occasion, exchange lists with other well-established charitable, religious non-profit organizations. The goal of any list exchange is to allow St. Olaf to provide information about its programs. List exchanges are not used for fundraising.

The following principles will always apply:

1. Lists will be exchanged only: we will not sell or rent any personal information from any list.

2. We will not exchange any information concerning donors, members, or others we determine to have a strong and specific relation with St. Olaf.

3. Exchanges are limited to mailing addresses only: we will not give out phone numbers, e-mail addresses, or any other personal information.

4. We will ensure that any exchange is for a one-time use only.

5. We will not exchange information to, with or from any candidate for public office, committees or organizations supporting a candidate, political parties, or organizations that solicit funds for use in political campaigns for any purpose.

6. We will honor requests by patrons to suppress their names from any exchange; requests are accepted at our administrative office (contact information below).

7. We will maintain complete and accurate records of all uses of lists for at least such time as required by law.

8. We will comply with the laws and regulations of the Internal Revenue Service, the State of Minnesota, and the United States Postal Service. We will meet the accountability standards for the charitable sector as outlined by the Minnesota Charities Review Council.
