The annual operating budget of St. Olaf Catholic Church enables the church to fulfill its mission to “serve as a living sign of Christ’s saving presence in the heart of the city.” Gifts to the operating budget help the parish enhance and expand this important mission.
The existing structure of St. Olaf Catholic Church has stood in the heart of the city since 1955. Gifts for capital needs can help ensure that the building is well maintained for years to come.
The visual arts are an integral part of any church setting, and St. Olaf is no exception. Since the visual arts are made up of a variety of mediums (paintings, icons, sculpture, photographs, stained glass, etc.), it is incumbent upon us to work to support and maintain those objects d’art in place as well as acquiring new and additional works to complement the existing collection. This need is not covered by the general operating fund.
Every week, gifts from parishioners of food, clothing, furnishings and financial resources help close the gap between survival and comfort for those who most need our help. This fund enables the good works of mercy, charity and justice to continue in perpetuity.
This fund ensures quality programming for the Worship and Sacred Music Series, including concerts that feature the Lively-Fulcher pipe organ in solo capacity.
Most of us want to help make the world a better place. Charitable gifts to the organizations and causes in which we believe are one way of investing in the promise of a better world. Through deferred giving, we can make an investment in the future. The term “planned giving”, or “deferred giving”, refers to charitable gifts that require planning before they are made. Such estate planning helps to ensure that your assets are properly distributed according to your wishes. Planned gifts are popular because they can provide valuable tax benefits and/or income for life. A person of any age and income can make a deferred gift.
Potential benefits of deferred gifts:
— increases the current income of the donor or others
— reduces the donor’s income tax
— reduces or eliminates capital gains tax
— passes assets to one’s family at a reduced cost
— makes significant donations to charity
