Lent is A Springtime of the Soul, A Time to Begin Again!
You are invited to lectures, reading and praying with the Gospel of Mark, the Gospel for Liturgical Cycle B used during 2012. Mark is both the first Gospel and the shortest, just 16 chapters. “This is where the Good News starts,” are his opening words, and he immediately tells of John the Baptist in the desert, announcing a baptism of repentance and forgiveness. N. T. Wright says, “This Gospel is written with a zip and punch…that’s meant to grab you by the collar and make you face the truth about Jesus, about God, and about yourself!” The Gospels serve as a window into the historical life and teachings of Jesus, the Word Made Flesh, as well as a mirror to reflect the light and darkness in our own life. Please join us for these timely lectures on the Gospel of Mark, presented by Fr. John R. Donahue, S.J. Includes 12 lectures with study guides (audio/CDs), with facilitator Sr. Joan Tuberty, in the St. Olaf Gathering Room on:

Rev. Ricky Manalo, CSP, presenter, musician, author, composer, recording artist

Fr. Ricky Manalo, CSP, a member of the Missionary Society of St. Paul (The Paulists Fathers), has written articles and books on pastoral ministry, liturgical music and intercultural communication. He is a nationally recognized composer of contemporary Catholic liturgical music. God continually calls us to deepen our relationships with the Triune God and with one another. These relationships become expressed whenever the church gathers together to celebrate the Eucharist. As we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi, join a retreat that will renew our understanding and appreciation of the Eucharist. We will reflect on the Church’s approach to the Body of Christ as it was understood by the early Christian community and see what implications this may have in our spiritual lives today. The artist’s music will be featured in these events. Freewill offering taken at the retreat.
